Renfrew Riverside: A new urban centre on the Clyde

The award winning Renfrew Riverside project is transforming 85 hectares of derelict, previously developed land into a new urban quarter. Working with the major landowners including Capital Shopping Centres, Park Lane, X-Leisure and Clydeport, DLA will have master planned and helped to deliver more than 2000 new homes, an Xscape complex, new business uses, new community facilities, a public park and significant new infrastructure. Many of the components of the scheme are now complete.
DLA’s role began with preparation of an Area Development Framework. DLA subsequently secured outline planning consent, followed by the negotiation of reserved matters for the key strategic infrastructure components and advance works (including new roads, utilities, landscaping, decontamination, ground raising and flood attenuation).
These works were subsequently implemented by the major landowner acting as master developer. DLA also prepared detailed design/development briefs for each land parcel. These have been approved by the Council, used to market sites and form part of the sale agreements. DLA is involved in on-going negotiation of detailed consents for several of the development components.
