A public engagement campaign is underway in Bury St Edmunds seeking the views of residents, visitors and workers on the future of the town and a proposed master plan for the further enhancing of the historic and thriving town centre.
David Lock Associates (DLA) and Peter Brett Associates were appointed by St Edmundsbury Council in December 2016 to produce the town centre master plan the first stage of which is an issues and options report. The report highlights what the challenges are both now and for the future of the town, plus options on how some of these might be addressed. The consultation is taking place in a number of venues around the town centre including a stall at Bury St Edmunds’ market.
Lasting eight weeks, this public consultation will be asking everyone who uses the town centre which issues and options are most important to them, before drawing up a more detailed vision that can address these and form the next stage of the masterplan project. The draft masterplan will be subject to a further round of consultation later in the summer.
The appointment follows on from the successful adoption of the Haverhill Town Centre Masterplan which was produced by DLA in close collaboration with the Council and ONE Haverhill.
