David Lock Associates (DLA) has submitted a reserved matters application to Ribble Valley Borough Council for 252 homes and associated works on behalf of clients – Barrow Lands Company Limited – on their land to the west of Whalley Road, Barrow, Lancashire. The reserved matters application relates to the southern parcel of the site. The overall site, for up to 504 dwellings, obtained outline planning permission following an appeal and Public Inquiry in 2013, which was subsequently allowed by the Secretary of State in February 2014.
The 252 homes proposed includes a mix of 2, 3 and 4 bedroom properties, including affordable homes and bungalows. In addition, the reserved matters seek approval for detailed landscape proposals with a green corridor, tree planting and local area of play, to establish a high-quality residential development adjacent to Barrow village.
A separate reserved matters application has also been submitted by Redrow Homes for the northern part of the site seeking approval for 183 dwellings.
Duncan Chadwick, Partner leading on the project said:
“This is a major step forward to delivering homes on the site after the appeal success in 2014, which paved the way for the provision of more homes in Barrow and the borough generally. After discharging a number of planning conditions on the permission and working with the Council on the design code and phasing we are pleased to move to the next stage and get the reserved matters submitted and validated for 435 dwellings with more to come if the land reserved for a school site is not needed.”
