A public engagement campaign is underway in Bury St Edmunds seeking the views of residents, visitors and workers on the future of the town and a proposed masterplan for the further enhancing of the historic and thriving town centre.

David Lock Associates (DLA) and Peter Brett Associates were appointed by St Edmundsbury Council in December 2016 to produce the town centre masterplan, the first stage of which is an issues and options report. Read more »

Vital infrastructure gets approval at Rugby

Development at Radio Station Rugby has taken another important step forward. Rugby Borough Council (RBC) last week approved reserved matters, submitted by David Lock Associates, for the implementation of the Link Road. The road will provide a critical connection between the urban extension, now known as Houlton, and Rugby town centre and will be constructed as an early infrastructure project to support sustainable transport movement. Light has always played an important role in the function and identity of Milton Keynes, from practical considerations of safety and legibility through to the decoration and illumination of key buildings and spaces. This installation references all those various functions and interplays of light, celebrating, and illuminating, the achievements of the ‘New City’ as it moves forward with confidence towards the next 50 years.

Prize award for MSc Geography and Planning students at Cardiff University

Duncan Chadwick, DLA Partner, recently handed over prizes to Masters students at Cardiff University, who were judged as the winners of the best ‘Live Project’.

As part of the School of Geography and Planning’s 50th anniversary celebrations, David Lock Associates sponsored the prize for ‘Live Project’, which gives students on the MSc Spatial Planning and Development and other Masters programmes an opportunity to work with ‘real-life’ clients on a planning issue. DLA submits plans for 252 homes in Barrow, Lancashire

David Lock Associates (DLA) has submitted a reserved matters application to Ribble Valley Borough Council for 252 homes and associated works on behalf of clients – Barrow Lands Company Limited – on their land to the west of Whalley Road, Barrow, Lancashire. The reserved matters application relates to the southern parcel of the site. The overall site, for up to 504 dwellings, obtained outline planning permission following an appeal and Public Inquiry in 2013, which was subsequently allowed by the Secretary of State in February 2014. Riverside Regeneration gets the Green Light

Ebbsfleet riverside regeneration obtained the green light. The development corporation has unanimously resolved to grant outline planning permission for new homes and jobs at Northfleet Embankment West, a key site within Ebbsfleet Garden City. 

The proposals, promoted and master planned by David Lock Associates on behalf of Northfleet Property LLP, will breathe new life into 31 hectares of land at this former cement works site and reconnect the existing community to the River Thames.  Read more »
