David Lock Associates, on behalf of our client Vistry Homes, have recently secured detailed planning permission from Cheshire East Council, for 306 dwellings on land at Gaw End Lane, Macclesfield.
This marks a significant milestone in the long-standing involvement of David Lock Associates in this site as we helped secure the site’s release from the Green Belt and its allocation as a Strategic Site for housing in the Cheshire East Local Plan Strategy 2017.
David Lock Associates continued its involvement in helping to secure outline planning permission for up to 310 dwellings which was issued in February 2021.
Located to the southern edge of Macclesfield, the proposed development offers a wide mix of housing including policy compliant affordable housing, public open space including children’s play area and allotments and linkages into the footpath and cycle network.
Included as part of the proposals is a significant area of protected open space and the retention of and enhancement of extensive semi-natural habitat. The sites position adjacent to the Macclesfield canal, a Conservation Area and Local Wildlife Site with a listed bridge across has required a sensitive design approach be taken.
We look forward to seeing the delivery of new homes on this distinctive site in the near future.
