David Lock Associates has helped clients – Icon Design & Build – secure planning permission for an 84-bedroom Care Home at Harecombe Manor in Crowborough, East Sussex.
After two previous applications and an unsuccessful appeal against the refusal of an earlier scheme for 40 Extra Care apartments on the site, Wealden District Council’s Planning Committee recently voted to approve the Care Home. This ends a 4-year campaign to secure the redevelopment of the Manor, which has been vacant and dilapidated since the closure of the Nursing Home.
Planning Partner Duncan Chadwick, who has led the project for DLA said:
‘This is such a satisfying outcome for our clients, the site and the area. The care home will not only replace the former sub-standard nursing home but provide high quality bespoke accommodation for older people in need of care, to meet the rising need for such accommodation in Wealden. This will not only bring significant benefits to the local community but also support housing supply, especially those with specific housing requirements that are often overlooked in favour of standard market homes.’
