Supporting our community

David Lock Associates sends our very best wishes to our entire community and beyond, as we continue to face very challenging times.
As a company owned entirely by an Employee Benefit Trust, a percentage of our annual profit is allocated to our Charity Group to distribute locally, nationally and internationally to organisations and causes aligned with our community and practice values. We also have a fundraising calendar of activities which raises further money for donations. Covid-19 has obviously called a temporary halt to such activities, but fortunately, as individuals, many continue to make huge personal efforts to help others. We are using our fund to support them as best we can.
We are proud to be long-term supporters of the Milton Keynes Community Foundation (MKCF) who support many local charities and community groups, maximising personal and corporate donations for the benefit of Milton Keynes. Of these, the Puzzle Centre and MK Melting Pot are particularly close to some of us.
Using our fund, MKCF has recently been able to help charities who are offering support with the relief of hardship, isolation or distress caused directly or indirectly by the current situation. They also support the mental wellbeing of others, who serve those suffering from loneliness and homelessness.
We have made contributions, through staff requests, to our local community. We are always supportive of MK Foodbank who have now formed Xtra, in collaboration with others, to build a new city-wide service to distribute food in these very difficult circumstances.
The Winter Night Shelter is close to our hearts. The Covid-19 crisis necessitated the early closure of the shelter. They will now support a number of recently housed former guests and provide emergency food relief for the duration of the crisis, and ultimately help these vulnerable people rebuild their lives and find permanent accommodation and work.
Businesses are also stepping up at this time and we find Namji Indian particularly inspiring. This family run business has suffered with the closure of their restaurant. But, despite this, they are making meals for frontline NHS staff at the hospital and local pharmacies, and also for the homeless. Last week they made an incredible 234 meals in one morning, a task made even more challenging during Ramadan.
All contributions are vital at the current time and we are in a very privileged position to be able to help our community as well as some further afield.
…and our own 3D printer continues to churn out face shield visor pieces for the NHS, 130 and counting …
