Houlton School Shortlisted for RTPI Planning Award 2022

David Lock Associates, alongside our client at master developer Urban&Civic and Rugby Borough Council, have been shortlisted for the RTPI West Midlands Awards for Planning Excellence 2022, in the ‘Best Project’ category for Houlton School, Rugby. The Houlton School project has fully realised the ambitions set for it: restoring the heritage of the Grade II listed Rugby Radio Station, making it publicly accessible and creating a sustainable, distinctive and state-of-the-art school. An innovative public/private partnership has created an iconic education facility in the heart of the new Houlton community, delivered on budget and on programme, almost entirely during a global pandemic. David Lock Associates are delighted to have played a key role in the project, having secured the multiple enabling works, infrastructure and main works reserved matters, listed building, discharge of condition, minor material amendment and advertisement consent applications required to facilitate the school’s delivery. We are thrilled to have been shortlisted with the team at Urban&Civic, and Rugby Borough Council for our contributions on this project, which has breathed new life into a redundant listed building, securing its future as a secondary and sixth form school and preserving the heritage asset for generations to come.
