On 8th November, South Kesteven District Council’s Planning Committee unanimously approved an outline planning application submitted by DLA, on behalf of the Vistry Group, for up to 400 homes on the north western side of the Lincolnshire town of Grantham. A key part of Grantham’s North West Quadrant urban extension, which is allocated in South Kesteven’s Local Plan for a total of around 3,350 homes, the forthcoming outline permission for Phase 2 of the Rectory Farm part of the Quadrant will also provide for sports pitches, a community pavilion, an outdoor gym, a trim trail, play areas and extensive informal greenspace alongside the 400 homes. DLA led and co-ordinated the work of the extensive consultant team, which included Pegasus (masterplanners), Pell Frischmann (transport consultants), Barter Hill (civil engineers), CSA (landscape designers and ecologists), AES (energy specialists), Prospect (archaeologists), Stantec (air quality and utilities assessors), noise.co.uk (acousticians) and BECG (consultation and engagement specialists). In co-ordinating the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) for the planning application, DLA secured the Council’s agreement to a focused scope for the EIA covering the four topics of transport, air quality, landscape and heritage, omitting other topics where significant environmental effects were predicted to be unlikely.
