This is a custom heading element.Building work has started on a 2,800-home urban extension to St Neots. The planning application for the development at Wintringham, which was submitted by David Lock Associates on behalf of Urban&Civic, working in partnership with the Nuffield Trusts, was granted by Huntingdonshire District Council in November 2018. The site at Wintringham was established as a location for development in Huntingdonshire's Adopted Core Strategy (2009) and the St Neots Eastern Expansion Urban Design Framework (2010). The site is also being brought forward as a development allocation in the emerging Huntingdonshire Local Plan to 2036. In addition to new homes, the development will include two new primary schools, district and local centre uses including shops, services, community, leisure and health, business space for R&D, creative space, offices and industrial units and a varied and multifunctional open space network. Phase one now being constructed will see over 1,000 homes (including affordable housing), community and retail facilities, health care provision and delivery of the first primary school which is scheduled to open in September 2020.
