Detailed plans for Hayle Harbour win approval

This is a custom heading element.DLA has secured Cornwall Council's approval of the Reserved Matters for a first phase of comprehensive regeneration at Hayle Harbour's North Quay. Consisting of 123 apartments, 20 houses, around 2,000 sq m of retail, community and leisure floorspace, about 600 sq m of business premises and approximately 350 sq m of space for fish storage, the scheme is part of a longstanding Outline permission for up to around 800 homes and further non-residential floorspace covering a much larger area on the northern side of the Hayle estuary.  Reserved Matters applications for those further phases will follow shortly. DLA acted as planning consultant to the landowner Sennybridge (Hayle) Ltd., working closely with the scheme's award-winning architects Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios and co-ordinating the inputs of the wider consultant team, including landscape architects Churchman Thornhill Finch, heritage advisers Stephen Levrant Heritage Architecture, transport consultants Vectos, ecologists EDP and engineers WSP. The site lies within the Cornwall and West Devon Mining Landscape World Heritage Site, so DLA's activity involved engaging with UNESCO's ICOMOS (International Council on Monuments and Sites), as well as with Cornwall Council's World Heritage Site team and Historic England. Engagement with these and other local stakeholders, including Hayle Town Council, began well before DLA submitted the Reserved Matters application and included several design workshops and other consultation events, including public exhibitions.  That engagement continued following the submission of the application and resulted in several refinements to the scheme before Cornwall Council approved it, with officers describing its design as "very high quality".
