Transforming the landmark Grade II listed Rugby Radio Station into an award-winning secondary school was no easy feat and having negotiated reserved matters consent for its conversion back in 2019, Houlton School now stands proudly at the heart of the new community at Houlton.
Today, we are delighted to share that we have now secured approval, on behalf of our client Urban&Civic, to expand Houlton School into a Through School by incorporating a new primary education facility, creating a seamless educational facility for the community.
The Houlton Through School will include up to 3 new forms of entry for primary school students; shared playing pitch facilities for a more diverse age demographic (that are also available for community use); additional active travel entrances into the school campus from the wider site; and enhanced School Safety Zone measures along the main entrance.
Houlton has always been a legacy project, invested in community growth. This latest development demonstrates Urban&Civic’s continued commitment to the delivery of educational infrastructure as a key component of building new communities. With the neighbouring District Centre on the horizon, the expansion of Houlton School is sure to be a real asset to the community for the years ahead.
